What wat is that?

Today we went all out to see as much as possible on our last full day. We started by visiting Wat Tramit where the famous golden Budhha is. The statue weighs a colossal 5 tonnes. It was only recently discovered when some of the plaster coating that had protected it from thieves for years started to fall off, revealing the gold beneath.

From there we drove through Chinatown

a hive of bustling activity as we were only a couple of days away from the Chinese New Year. There was red and gold everywhere and huge dragon lanterns, made of painted silk stretched over wire frames.

From there we went to Wat Pho to see the famous recling Budhha which is a massive 43m long (and therefore very difficult to photograph).

along the aisle were smaller shrines and beautiful inlaid pictures

In the grounds a group of students were sketching and painting

Much of the decoration on the buildings was made of pieces of ceramic cut into shapes and stuck into plaster
